AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE LICENSE
EASA Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance License (AML) is a requirement for an aircraft maintenance engineer with permission to approve maintenance release. It is the license required to carry out maintenance tasks on aircraft in line with EASA international standard, and it is one of the most sought-after licenses in all of aviation maintenance field.
To obtain an EASA Part 66 AML (Aircraft Maintenance License) an applicant needs basic knowledge (66.A.25); and basic experience (66.A.30). The knowledge requirement is met by passing (theoretical) written exams and the (practical) experience requirement is met by possessing the relevant work experience with aircraft maintenance for at least 18 months within the last three years, or by having successfully completed a course.
An employee will be able to convert their qualifications obtained in the course of their employment into a European certificate if they are eligible for it. The conversion is possible only if the qualification is equivalent to a Part-66 licence or a national qualification issued by an EU country.
Part 66 licenses from countries outside of the EASA members cannot be rendered valid for use in EASA.
